Lucerne 2010

Over 20 musicians and friends of the club travelled to Lucerne in Switzerland for the October Bank Holiday weekend. We took part in the Lucerne Guitar Days festival weekend, as well as a special weekend of music and song in Gracie Kelly's Irish Bar in the city.

There were some extraordinary guitar concerts, including performances by Brendan Walsh Junior and members of the Diversus Guitar Ensemble, one of the feature acts at our own festival in January.

One particular highlight was the debut concert by the Carrowmore Mandolin Duo- our own Daniel Ahern and Denis McAuliffe. The skilled playing, great arrangements, and the relaxed casual banter between these young musicians made for an excellent gig. Well done lads! 

Of course, there were lots of songs and tunes over the weekend, and plenty to see and do. All who travelled are grateful to the two Brendans for all the work they put into the trip, and are looking foward to the next Folk Club tour! :)
