LEARNING MUSIC WITH THE CLUB

The recent demand for adult trad music classes and the wide range of musical instruments, along with varying levels of competence, among the students has prompted the organisers to re-organise the teaching sessions as follows.

Firstly there will be two classes in the Courthouse on Thursday nights. 

8pm Beginners class concentrating on complete beginners. Basic scales on different instruments and moving on to simple tunes. This is a group class but there will be some individual attention for students. This class finishes at 9.00pm. Students should leave after this class. 

9pm Tune-a-Week classes. There were quite a few people who had played in their childhood or want to play a second instrument. This class is aimed at these people. Starting with simple tunes such as waltzes, Marches & hornpipes the class will move along at a tune a week. In the new year hopefully those who are having trouble keeping up can drop back to the beginners classes where the pace will be reaching a tune a week.

Sessions - Gallagher's Bar Kilkishen. Every Sunday until Easter (or possibly beyond).
Called the "Improvers' session", this is aimed at anyone who has a few tunes. Music books are banned! You're on your own now. Session starts at 7.00pm and the early part of the night provides an opportunity for everybody to play a single tune on the lines of a singers session. At 8.30pm the session advances to sets of tunes and is aimed at more advanced musicians.

After graduating through all the above it is hoped that players will join the club at their regular Friday night session in the Greyhound Bar Sixmilebridge.
